Orlando R. Johnson, Esq.

Founder/Owner & Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Orlando R. Johnson is the Owner and Founder of Johnson Memorial Funeral Home, bringing together a rare combination of legal expertise, executive-level funeral service experience, and a lifelong commitment to serving families with dignity and excellence.

A native of Union Springs, Alabama, Mr. Johnson is a proud 2009 graduate of Bullock County High School. His passion for funeral service began at an early age while attending services with his mother and grandmother, where he developed a deep appreciation for the care, structure, and significance of honoring a life well lived. These early experiences formed the foundation of his belief that a funeral is a once-in-a-lifetime event that must be handled with precision, compassion, and respect.

Mr. Johnson’s experience in the funeral profession is both extensive and comprehensive. He began working as a funeral attendant over a decade ago and has since gained hands-on experience across every level of funeral service—from removals and preparation to directing services and guiding families through the entire process. Prior to establishing his law practice, Mr. Johnson managed one of Service Corporation International (SCI)’s premier locations—one of only a select number of elite facilities nationwide recognized for excellence in operations, service, and performance. This experience instilled in him a high standard of service delivery that now defines Johnson Memorial Funeral Home.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Legal Studies from Auburn University Montgomery before continuing his education at Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor. Mr. Johnson became a licensed attorney in 2023 and has since actively practiced law, further strengthening his professional foundation in advocacy, precision, and client service. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,Inc.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Johnson took the opportunity to fully pursue his calling in funeral service by enrolling at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. While balancing professional responsibilities and personally funding his education, he completed the program and, in 2025, successfully passed both the National Board Examination and state licensing requirements. He is now a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in both Georgia and Alabama.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Johnson has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to public service. He was elected to the Bullock County Board of Education in 2013 and continues to serve in that capacity, contributing to the advancement and governance of education within his community.

The vision for Johnson Memorial Funeral Home was established years before its realization. The name itself, created well in advance, reflects a deep-rooted commitment to legacy, family, and community. Today, that vision is being brought to life through a modern facility designed to deliver exceptional service, comfort, and care.

Mr. Johnson believes that funerals are among the most significant events in a family’s life. As such, they deserve thoughtful planning, meticulous attention to detail, and a level of compassion that provides both comfort and meaning. At Johnson Memorial Funeral Home, the mission extends beyond providing services—it is to create lasting experiences that truly honor life and support families through one of their most difficult times.

With hands-on experience across every level of the profession, executive leadership within a nationally recognized organization, and the analytical precision of a practicing attorney, Mr. Johnson offers a standard of care that is both elevated and deeply personal. He considers it a true honor to serve and remains committed to excellence in every aspect of funeral service.
